It’s been a productive and eventful 17 months since you elected me to Folly Beach City Council, and I’m proud to be running for re-election. I’m committed to supporting all of Folly—residents, businesses, public services, and visitors —with independent thinking and balanced leadership. Our city is leading the way on environmental protection, infrastructure improvements, and public safety—all within a balanced budget. I’ll continue working to build a strong, sustainable community that serves everyone. Visit my website to learn about my priorities, experience, and to reach out with your ideas. I’d be grateful for your vote as we move forward together! Pressing on! - Skip

A MESSAGE FROM SKIP

Let's focus on our shared journey ahead. Imagine our community as a bus on a scenic route. Each of us occupies a different seat, offering unique perspectives. Some may see the ocean's beauty, while others see less appealing sights. But remember, we're all traveling together towards a common destination. In our small town, nestled along a 7-mile stretch of picturesque beach, we have the chance to 'change seats'- This means embracing the opportunity to understand and appreciate the views and experiences of our neighbors. Our goal is to maintain Folly's unique charm, balancing livability with the tourism that also helps keep our economy thriving. As your incumbent candidate, I envision a Folly community that is both fun and relaxed, boasting robust infrastructure and a government that listens and responds effectively to your needs , and a community of neighbors and friends. Together, we can ensure that our town continues to thrive as a vibrant, inclusive community. On November 4th, I humbly ask for your vote. Together, let's prioritize community over corporation, ensuring our town flourishes not just for a few, but for all who call Folly home.

leadership. Service. Community. Civility. Character.

SKIP'S
VISION

PUBLIC SAFETY, TRAFFIC & PARKING SOLUTIONS

Improving public safety is paramount. This includes enhancing emergency services, implementing effective traffic management strategies, and ensuring our parking infrastructure meets the needs of both residents and visitors without compromising the town's charm.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

Folly Beach's natural beauty is one of its greatest assets. My focus will be on proactive measures to combat beach erosion, manage the impact of sea-level rise, and address flooding issues. Environmental stewardship will be a priority, ensuring we preserve our coastline and natural habitats for future generations.

ENFORCEMENT OF CITY ORDINANCES

A key to maintaining our town’s character is the consistent enforcement of existing ordinances. This ensures that development is responsible, businesses operate within agreed parameters, and residents enjoy a quality of life that reflects our community values.

ADVOCACY FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Addressing the housing needs of our workforce and long-term renters is critical. I will work towards solutions that provide affordable housing options, ensuring that those who contribute to our community can also call it home.

SUPPORTING SENIORS'  INITIATIVES

Our Folly seniors are the heritage of our community, many of which have been here for decades!  I will seek to identify senior needs and work with our residents and City to create and support programs that help address seniors' needs.
